No news. About anything.

I got up bright and early this morning (6:45. Gross) for my Diabeetus test (I’m sorry, I just can’t NOT spell it diabetes). S was able to be home with E this morning (took some finagling, which is why I didn’t go last week. There is just no way a 2.5-year-old would make it for 3.5 hours at the clinic), so he got home a little after 7 from formation. Luckily, she slept for him a little bit before getting up and becoming her usual, charming morning self (she apparently spilled her cereal all over him multiple times). I got to the clinic around 7:30, and the doors were open, but they don’t actually start seeing patients until 7:40. When I got to the lab, I was fourth in line, and then they had to find their manual meter to make sure they could go ahead with the testing. So, I didn’t even have a chance to down my disgusting orange drink until just after 8:00.

And then the waiting began.

The world would have been regaled with my boredom and the horrible feeling that swept over me due to the large dose of glucose that had been introduced to my system, but my phone got no service in the lab. Not even enough for me to send S a text message, letting him know we had begun. I even made a trek to the ladies’ room to see if I got some reception in there, but no dice. The whole thing really confused me, since I have had perfect signal in there before, and I have never had any problems with getting service anywhere except in the basement of the Macy’s in my hometown.

So, cut off from the world, I was forced to read one of the hundreds of free ebooks I have downloaded on my kindle. I keep downloading them (because, you know, Amazon has them for free!), and then never read them. I managed to get through 95% of the book in my 3 hours (it was light and quick… and missing at least 20% of itself. The ending? Not so much with wrapping things up), and I am so glad I sneaked out with the Kindle–E would have gone crazy. She thinks it belongs to her for some reason…

As I left, the tech told me they would probably call to let me know, and the results would likely be available after 3:00 if I wanted to call in to check up on them, myself. Well, I didn’t call and no one called me. I’m hoping that means good news, especially since I ate a burrito and rice for lunch. Ignorance is bliss, right?

Anyway, I came home, we got some lunch, and then S went in to work. He called me about half an hour after we parted ways to let me know he had no emails containing news. The plan is that he will send an email to his branch manager tomorrow to ask when we might know something and/or what he will need to do if they can’t give him one of the requested class dates.

The good news is, pessimism is returning. Just not as quickly (or easily) as I would have hoped.
