I.e. I will not discuss my irrational cleaning spree.
I am pretty sure I mentioned yesterday that S’s paperwork was finished, signed, and turned in for a Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course (CLC3) slot. Branch has it to make of it what they will. Well, another 1LT in S’s company got his turned in on Monday and received a class date today.
What does this mean?
Much faster turn-around than I would have ever dreamed.
Now, the other guy requested different course dates (not originally. They actually requested the exact same courses, but he Lieutenant-Colonel was not thrilled with that plan when he saw both sets of paperwork, and said they had to change them. Nice guy that the other 1LT is–no, really, he’s one of the nicest people I have ever met–said he would push his requested dates back since he had put his paperwork in as early as S did), so just because he got his second choice doesn’t mean S will get one of his top 2 (or 3), but it gives me a little bit of hope.
So, what did S end up requesting?
- Early November start date with a mid-October report date.
- Early February start date with a mid-January report date.
- Early April start date with a mid-March report date.
Let’s analyze.
- If he gets any of the three, it will be this one. Why? Because it is the most inconvenient time they could possibly send him. My due date is October 29th. I was a week early with E, so if I were to follow that trend, that’s sitting us at October 22nd. If they are moving my ass (and you better believe said fat ass will happily go), of course they will do so when I will have to unpack and organize a household 9 months pregnant. Not to mention he won’t get paternity leave, and I will be finding a new OB seconds before squeezing out a kid. It just makes sense.
- This would be the ideal. Which means: not a chance in hell is this happening. S has enough leave that we would just go back to GA for the holidays and stay there. We would probably have everything packed and ready to go for the movers mid-December, and we’ll just make a go of it–essentially, let the Army send us home for the holidays. We would have some time to hang out with the family, no pressure, and then make the drive up to VA. We might even be able to get some help from the family with that whole process.
- Not as inconvenient as #1, but getting pretty close. Why? Because we’ll go home for the holidays, turn around to fly back to WA only to sit around for a few weeks, and then get the ball rolling for the move. It’ll be a bit less stressful, except for the part where we need to find a pet sitter for the holidays
.
Now, all of the above is assuming a lot. They could give him none of the above. a JOBA position could come up that we decide to try for, instead. Congress could continue to be unproductive and fail to produce a budget. But it feels like there could be an end in sight. And wouldn’t it be great if we knew about it in the next week?
Good thoughts, fairy dust, and unicorn poop are still all very much appreciated!
