Oh, BTW

I don’t have boob cancer.

We got snow.

We are leaving in 47 days (give or take).

And I can’t lose weight to save my life.

Since deciding it was time to start watching what I was eating and start exercising, I have gained 3 pounds. That’s right. GAINED. And that’s on top of the 4-5 lbs I gained during the holidays. So, after birthin’ a baby 3.5 months ago, the only weight I have lost is the weight of the actual baby. I went down this road last time, and I am now reminded, again, why I said I didn’t want to do the pregnancy thing more than once. I don’t regret it in the least, but it’s a pretty big blow to go from liking your pregnant body to hating your post-partum body.

And getting to hate it for years to come.

Breastfeeding has failed me in more ways than one.

Anyway, I think once we get past Valentine’s Day, I am cutting out gluten. I’ve read several places that people with auto-immune diseases like Hashimoto’s should avoid gluten, so why not give it a try? I have’t found any decent peer-reviewed journals on the subject, but then, again, I haven’t looked. Since I am desperate enough to get my body back on track, I am desperate enough to give up what little gluten-laden food I eat on a regular basis for a few months to see if it makes a difference.

Really, this shouldn’t be that hard. Until it’s chicken parmesan night and I have to find an alternative to breadcrumbs. Or until S has duty and I need to find something I can bring him to eat at work. Drive thrus may no longer be my friend.

We don’t eat a whole lot of beef or pork and I’m not a huge fan of trying to replicate off-limits foods (like paleo pop-tarts? That sounds terrible), but if anyone has any fabulous gluten-free recipes, send them my way.
